IBT Package Director Denis Taylor working with IBT General President James P. Hoffa have reached a tentative agreement with UPS on behalf of our UPS members.
As a result of this historic agreement our UPS members will enjoy paid time off if they or a member of their household is diagnosed with COVID-19.
The agreement provides for up to ten days of paid leave to UPS Teamsters who are diagnosed with COVID-19, living with someone with COVID-19 or have been quarantined by their doctor, a government agency, another medical professional or UPS.
So to summarize, UPS reached an agreement with the Teamsters to pay our members up to 10 days of paid leave at the worker’s daily guarantee if they are:
Diagnosed with COVID-19. Live with someone with COVID-19, or are quarantined by a government agency, medical professional or UPS
The company will continue to make regular pension and health and welfare contributions for the ten days of paid leave.
Under the agreement, UPS members may also use their sick days, vacation days, and personnel days after the 10 days of paid leave are exhausted. They will still receive pension and health and welfare contributions during this additional paid time off.
The agreement also provides that there will be no discipline for absenteeism due to COVID-19 related issues.
We appreciate the hard work and support of the IBT and Package Director Denis Taylor on behalf of UPS workers, during this difficult time.
