Teamsters Local 396 is proud to announce our official endorsement of Kamala Harris for U.S. President and Tim Walz for U.S. Vice President in the upcoming election. This decision reflects the voices of our rank-and-file members, who participated in a Presidential Town Hall meeting this past May. During this democratic process, the majority of our membership voted in favor of endorsing the Democratic candidates.
Kamala Harris has long been a champion of working people and Labor Unions. As a Senator, she cast the tie-breaking vote that helped pass the Butch Lewis Act, which saved the pensions of thousands of Teamsters and millions of other hard working Americans. This crucial legislation preserved the financial security and dignity that our members earned over decades of dedicated work.
Tim Walz has also been a steadfast supporter of Labor Unions throughout his career, advocating for collective bargaining rights, fair wages, and better working conditions. As the Governor of Minnesota, he signed executive orders to protect workers' rights and has consistently worked to expand union representation across industries. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in ensuring worker safety and healthcare access, underscores his commitment to standing with working families.
Together, Harris and Walz represent a future where Labor Unions remain strong and where the rights of workers are protected. We urge all our members to get out and vote for Harris/Walz in this critical election.
